The aim of this website is to provide information to readers about the link between repairing and protecting our natural environment.

This link may seem far removed but through repairing and caring, the burden on waste landfill sites is greatly reduced. How? Quite simply by extending the life, rather than throwing it away.

This means there is less pollution from hazardous substances seeping into the ground, less of our countryside is used for waste disposal, biodiversity is encouraged, and we can all enjoy a healthier, greener environment with less pollution.


Fully Organic

An organic product can broadly be described as not containing toxic chemicals (including synthetic pesticides, arsenic-containing herbicides, fertilization biosolids, which are often found to contain flame retardants and drugs among other things,
chemical food additives, antibiotics, synthetic hormones, and industrial solvents). In addition to the absence of artificial chemicals, "organic" means not genetically engineered, and having not used ionizing irradiation, which can cause free-radicals and the removal of vitamins.
For example, USDA organic attempts to restrict against such things including genetic engineering in products or in the products' animal feed, and automatically allows the use of "Non-GMO" labelling similar to The Non-GMO Project.

Fully Renewable Energy

Renewable energy flows involve natural phenomena such as sunlight, wind, tides, plant growth, and geothermal heat, as the International Energy Agency explains:

Renewable energy is derived from natural processes that are replenished constantly. In its various forms, it derives directly from the sun, or from heat generated deep within the earth.
Included in the definition is electricity and heat generated from solar, wind, ocean, hydropower, biomass, geothermal resources, and biofuels and hydrogen derived from renewable resources.

Renewable energy resources and significant opportunities for energy efficiency exist over wide geographical areas, in contrast to other energy sources, which are concentrated in a limited number of countries.
Rapid deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency, and technological diversification of energy sources, would result in significant energy security and economic benefits.

It would also reduce environmental pollution such as air pollution caused by burning of fossil fuels and improve public health, reduce premature mortalities due to pollution and save associated health costs that amount to several hundred billion dollars annually only in the United States.

Renewable energy sources, that derive their energy from the sun, either directly or indirectly, such as hydro and wind, are expected to be capable of supplying humanity energy for almost another 1 billion years.

E Numbers

E numbers are harmfull

Most E numbers in food are bad, there is no doubt of that. This article gives a specific list of substances that are banned in certain countries, and others that are known to provoke allergic reactions in sensitive people.

E numbers ("E" stands for "Europe") are codes for substances used as food additives for use within the European Union (EU) and European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Commonly found on food labels, their safety assessment and approval are the responsibility of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

Having a single unified list for food additives was first agreed upon in 1962 with food colouring. In 1964, the directives for preservatives were added, in 1970 antioxidants were added, in 1974 emulsifiers, stabilisers, thickeners and gelling agents were added as well.

In some European countries, "E number" is sometimes used informally as a pejorative term for artificial food additives, and products may promote themselves as "free of E numbers". This is incorrect, because many components of natural foods have assigned E numbers (and the number is a synonym for the chemical component).

Aluminum in cosmetics / deodorants / dermal products dangerous to health

The potential toxicity of aluminum (AL-13) in cosmetics and deodorants and dermal products has been a concern for several years. Often accused of promoting breast cancer or Alzheimer's disease.

After repeated-dose administration of aluminum, this new report states, neurotoxic effects as well as effects on the testicles, embryo and nervous system development are observed in animals. Effects in humans (neurotoxicity, bone damage, anemia) are known in chronically exposed renal insufficiencies as well as in premature infants fed by parenteral route.

Even if the fate of aluminium after dermal exposure is very poorly known, the Afssaps reminds us that it is widely distributed throughout the body, can reach the brain and cross the placental barrier. Its elimination, mainly by the renal route, may take several years when administered chronically.
